I think there has to be some form of reparations, we havent discussed what that is. We are looking at almost 100 years of jim crow, legalized segregation, and de facto segregation on so many levels that exists today. There has not been any kind of intervention done. Martha Julian Castro and Elizabeth Warren support the idea of some form of reparations for slavery if they are elected. We compensate people if we take their property. Shouldnt we compensate people if they were property, sanctioned by the state . We need to confront it head on and we need to talk about the right way to address it. If its hard to think of any society in which a majority population has said as a consequence of historical wrongs, we are now going to take back a big chunk of the nations resources or for a long period of time to make that right.
