BLM issues Record of Decision on Pancake Complex Wild Horse Gather Plan Environmental Assessment ELY, Nev. – On May 4, 2021, the Bureau of Land Management (BLM), Ely District issued a Decision Record (DR) and Finding of No Significant Impact (FONSI) based on analysis provided in the Pancake Complex 10-year Wild Horse Gather Environmental Assessment (EA). The action is needed to reduce impacts to rangeland health and wildlife habitat within and outside of the complex boundaries. The EA will be used to facilitate gathers, removals, and fertility control of excess wild horses in accordance with 43 CFR 4700 regulation and the Wild Free-Roaming Horses and Burros Act of 1971, as amended (Public Law 92-195). The Appropriate Management Level for the Pancake Complex is 361 to 638 horses.

Downtown Lynchburg sees impact of the pandemic one year later Small businesses hope overwhelming support will help overcome COVID-19 Published:  Tags:  The Downtown Lynchburg Association released their 2020 annual report to show the impact. Ashley Kershner, executive director, said small businesses have suffered. “[With] that said, when we look at our colleagues across the country and what their downtowns are enduring, I’m actually very proud,” said Kershner. Through their recovery initiative, the association created a gift card program, giving away $45,000 so far to spend at 40 participating businesses. The nonprofit also established takeout patios and other promotional content to help concerned owners.
