Virginia lawmakers reached their crossover day on Tuesday, when both the Senate and House of Delegates must complete work on their own legislation before the other chamber takes up the bills.
This week lawmakers will head back to Richmond for the General Assembly session with several big topics on the agenda, including abortion, mental health, and tax cuts.
A newly filed bill proposes that life begins at conception, which "repeals all provisions of the Code of Virginia allowing for the performance of abortions."
“This is Trump looking out to the field of potential competitors and firing a few shots across the bow,” said Ben Melusky, assistant professor of political science at Old Dominion University.
