GRETNA, Va. â During Gretna Town Councilâs regular monthly meeting Monday night, Town Clerk/Treasurer Patsy Budd presented the proposed 2021-2022 budget to the council.
This yearâs budget, Budd said, has several things missing due to the lack of revenues to cover it, including a replacement computer system for the water plant and a new police car.Â
Budd proposed a raise in water, sewer and trash rates over the next three years, starting with a five percent raise in this budget. In the following two years, the rates would rise again four percent, then three percent.
The rate raises were necessary, as Budd said the revenues could not meet expenses on their current budget unless the raises happened, namely due to an up to 16 percent increase on chemicals needed at the water plant.
