Former Socceroo Craig Goodwin has made an immediate impact for Adelaide United who survived a furious late charge from Western Sydney to claim a 3-2 A-League win.
The result at Sydney s Bankwest Stadium lifted Adelaide level on points with the fourth-placed Wanderers.
It was Adelaide s first A-League win in seven interstate games stretching back to last season and ended the Wanderers seven-match unbeaten run.

The goal came after Wanderers failed to clear a Goodwin corner, increasing their league-worst tally of goals conceded from set pieces to eight.

There s something hugely satisfying about watching the Brisbane Roar play under Warren Moon something that was clearly on show in Saturday night s emphatic 3-1 victory over Adelaide United at Dolphin stadium.
If anything was to be a tonic for the delayed kick off for the 8,747-strong crowd a storm in Sydney pushing this match back, resulting in it ending at the unsociable hour of 10:30pm local time it was the way Brisbane played in the first half.

Wenzel-Halls headed home in the 37th minute with teammate Jay O Shea doubling the lead with a cracking long-range strike eight minutes later at Redcliffe s Dolphin Stadium.
The young forward snared his brace in the 78th minute, before Adelaide s Nathan Konstandopoulos pulled back a goal four minutes later.
The win, Brisbane s third on the bounce, drew them level with Central Coast - who play on Sunday evening - on points and goal difference but ahead on goals scored.
