HARBOR SPRINGS, MI - When Nub’s Nob opened its slopes for the first couple days of the season last weekend, staff were surprised to see so many people turn out. The skiers seemed to take the new social distancing guidelines in stride, and overall were what General Manger Ben Doornbos described as a very considerate crowd.
A snow groomer moves along the foot of a ski slope Wednesday at Nubâs Nob Ski Area near Harbor Springs. General manager Ben Doornbos said the ski area was able to open by mid-November in the 2017, 2018 and 2019 seasons, but the necessary snow making could not start until Nov. 23 this year because subfreezing temperatures have been slower to arrive. Nubâs Nob plans to open on Saturday, Dec. 12.
