This has been one of the toughest and most emotional weeks of my term as your mayor. Unfortunately, we’ve recently lost two valued members of our team.
Cheyenne Mayor Patrick Collins Mayoral Minute For April 2
Cheyenne Mayor Patrick Collins has released his Mayoral Minute for April 2.
I received my second COVID-19 vaccine shot last week. It comes with a sense of relief, as I have watched friends and coworkers go through the struggles with the virus. My sincere thanks to Kathy Emmons and Dr. Stan Hartman of Cheyenne-Laramie County Health and Jeanine West with Cheyenne-Laramie County Emergency Management and all the others who have led us through this past year. A special thank you to the doctors, nurses, and all the healthcare workers who have taken care of our residents. I am feeling like we are at the end of this epic journey, and as a community, ready to get back to some sort of normalcy.

CHEYENNE – Wyoming lawmakers rejected a pair of bills Thursday aiming to raise revenues through the state’s energy industries, one of which would establish an excise tax on electricity production in the state and another that would increase the tax burden for the wind energy industry.
Lawmakers on the Joint Revenue Committee heard hours worth of public testimony on the two bills, with the bulk of comments regarding legislation to double the state’s tax on wind energy generation, from $1 per Megawatt-hour to $2, and eliminate a tax exemption that applies to new wind energy projects in their first three years.
Turbine Fire Reported At Wind Facility At Belvoir Ranch Saturday
A turbine fire at a newly constructed wind facility at the Belvoir Ranch west of Cheyenne burned for about two hours Saturday morning before going out on its own.
That s according to Paul Pomeroy Fire Chief for Laramie County Fire District #10, which was called to the blaze at the Roundhouse Industrial Wind Facility at around 9 a.m.
Pomeroy told Townsquare Media of Cheyenne that the fire caused little damage, although he said if it had happened in the summer it potentially could have caused a grass fire.
But because of the wet, snowy ground this time of year, the blaze essentially burned itself out. Pomeroy said turbine fires of this sort generally do burn themselves out unless they somehow spread to flammable material, such as dry grass.
