Rock County public health officials report rise in hospitalizations due to COVID-19

JANESVILLE, Wis. Hospitals in Rock County have reported a rise in hospitalizations over the past several weeks due to COVID-19.
A news release Wednesday said Beloit Health System, Edgerton Hospital, MercyHealth and SSM Health St. Mary’s Hospital – Janesville have all seen increased hospitalizations as a result of the virus.
As of Wednesday, there are 24 community members receiving inpatient care for COVID. That number was at 17 one week ago.
The county said inpatient hospitalizations have come in waves, with numbers largely continuing to increase compared to the single digits seen in late February. The COVID inpatient census peaked at 74 last fall.
