Community vaccination clinics scheduled in Beloit and Clinton

May 26, 2021 The Rock county Public Health Department, school districts, and health care providers team up to host a number of COVID-19 vaccination clinics. Anyone 12 and older can get vaccinated May 27th from 2:00 until 5:00 p.m. at Clinton High School. Minors need to be accompanied by a parent or guardian or bring a signed consent form. A follow-up clinic for the second dose will be is scheduled for June 17th. Walgreens is hosting a vaccination clinic May 30th from 10:00 a.m. until 2:00 p.m. at Beloit Head Start on Henry Avenue. While the clinic is intended as a follow-up for those who got the first dose on May 2nd, it is open to anyone who hasn’t gotten the first dose. The Pfizer, Moderna, and Johnson & Johnson vaccine will be available. Since no follow-up is scheduled, people receiving the first dose will need to make an appointment with Walgreens to get the 2nd dose.

May 12, 2021 Beloit Health System hosts a walk-in clinic for people 18 and older wishing to get the COVID-19 vaccine. The Moderna Vaccine will be administered from 12:30 until 5:00 p.m. on May 20th in the Beloit Memorial Hospital auditorium. The vaccine is being administered at no cost to the patient. Anyone who has insurance should bring their insurance card with them, but no one will be turned away. If you are an established patient at BHS, you are encouraged to use the MyHealth patient portal.

Hospitals in Rock County have reported a rise in hospitalizations over the past several weeks due to COVID-19. A news release Wednesday said Beloit Health System, Edgerton Hospital, MercyHealth and SSM Health St. Mary’s Hospital – Janesville have all seen increased hospitalizations as a result of the virus. As of Wednesday, there are 24 community members receiving inpatient care for COVID. That number was at 17 one week ago. The county said inpatient hospitalizations have come in waves, with numbers largely continuing to increase compared to the single digits seen in late February. The COVID inpatient census peaked at 74 last fall.
