JACOBSBURG An individual remains hospitalized after reportedly being struck by a vehicle last week. Lt. Maurice Waddell, commander of the Ohio State Highway Patrol St. Clairsville Post, said the incident occurred around 11:30 p.m. Feb. 2 on Belmont County Road 56, east of Jacobsburg. Law enforcement received a report that a pedestrian had been struck by a vehicle. When troopers arrived on scene, they found an injured victim along with two vehicles that had been crashed into each other. “From what we can gather, the pedestrian was in a vehicle; the other vehicle apparently struck the pedestrian and then came back around and struck the (victim’s) truck,” Waddell said.

Staff Writer MARTINS FERRY The Martins Ferry Police Department arrested five men on importuning charges after a months-long investigation. Police Chief John McFarland on Thursday said his department levied several charges against the men, who allegedly believed they were soliciting girls online. “The investigation was started by the officer creating a social media account posing as a juvenile female,” McFarland said. “In doing so charges have been brought against five local residents. I give a big thank-you to the officer who investigated these cases and to the Belmont County Prosecutor’s Office, and the Moundsville Police Department for their assistance.”
