washington where things stand with our chad pergram. hi, chad. neil, good afternoon. the house freedom caucus just took a formal position in the debt ceiling debate. it endorses the bill passed by the house in april. the caucus says there should be no further discussion until the senate passes the legislation. the house bill, we passed it. that is the mechanism right now sitting there that there s 11 democrats in the senate and the democratic president of the united states that stand between that bill and it becoming law. it was thought that house speaker kevin mccarthy would lose a good chunk of republicans who could not accept anything less than the house passed bill. the question is can mccarthy get just enough gop members on board and can democrats provide the rest. speaker mccarthy has limited capacity to really negotiate. he s handcuffed and in leg irons from that 15 votes that it took to get them elected. if he is able to negotiate something, once he tries to
way in, that teacher needs to find another job. my answer is not that hard working teacher needs to find another job by andy beshear needs to find another job. i m going to help him do that in november. neil: let me ask you about this race with kelly craft. it was expensive for you. you won. we re told you down to about $350,000 in your campaign war chest. governor beshear has more than $7 million. that puts you at a business of a disadvantage going into this. well, neil, check us out at cameronforkentucky.com. we need a lot of money to compete in this race. we re going to get across the finish line. if your viewers will help us at cameronforkentucky. come, we ll be grateful, this is a bellweather state for the 2024
we have in in case. we know what the play book will be for both gillum and desantis. desantis will call him a socialist and gillum call him a racist. what do you make that this is being seen as sort of a proxy between bernie sanders and president trump and it could set up it will be looked at on election night in florida as sort of gauge for where america is on this since it s such a bellweather state. donald trump won there by less than two points. how this plays out we re going to be looking at it closely. both sides are playing with plutonium. i think it s safe to say that floridians will hear very little
was confronted with some polling that showed lamb around 6 ahead. oh, it s a democratic district. again, put aside registration. look at the voting patterns. not only plus 20 for trump but 18 for romney, voted for mccain. this is a suburban conservative district south of pittsburgh. so this is really a fascinating bell weather of a bellweather state. if democrats can continue their run into this part of trump country, that s significant. now, it s also one of these circumstances where if the vote goes .5 in either direction, the votes will be over meaning what? conor lamb wins by .5, democratic blue wave here we come. loses by .5, democrats can t get it done when it counts. so, you want to be careful. the point is that the gap that s closed indicates a real problem. almost $12 million spent in a district that republicans shouldn t be fighting tooth and nail to keep. that won t exist at the end of the year. i would argue that, a, i think
against everything that nancy pelosi stands for. so he s trying to work within the confines of a conservative district to suggest that a republican light would be more advantageous to his candidacy. we ll see. you put that kindly. adrian, he said he wouldn t even vote for nancy pelosi and he s a democrat. yeah. first of all, this race shouldn t be competitive. trump carried this district by 20 points in just a year and four months ago when he was running for the presidency. but look, this is about this is turning to what is consider to be a bellweather state. i worked for the cycle when the democrats took over the house. and many were running against nancy pelosi. you have to show your independence. so they didn t like her either then? no. and i think we would we have seen this on the republican side as well. you know what is interesting
