Randwick Saturday: Preview and tips A Set the default text size A Set large text size A Set the default text size A Set large text size
Sydney racing moves back to Randwick on Saturday.
The track is currently rated a heavy eight with no more showers predicted, so it looks likely to stay around that mark. The rail is out three metres the entire circuit.
Below are my thoughts on the program.
Race 1: 1200 metres, two-year-old handicap
Verne was a touch unlucky in defeat on debut, not having clear running until too late. That was against In The Congo, who he meets again here. He then went on to score comfortably at his second start. Gun trainer Annabelle Neasham has suggested through the week that he may have been her slipper runner if things had have panned out earlier. Queensland Derby day saw the feature go down to the wire, Kah claim another G1 in astonishing fashion, and Pikey go down in the last in bizarre circumstances.
The Randwick track not good enough on Queen Elizabeth Stakes day

If it is good it should not be uneven.
Jockeys and punters alike considered the track in the slow range after the first at Randwick and I bet William Haggas, watching 17,000km away at Newmarket in the UK had the giggles when he saw the cut in the ground in the early races - knowing full well that the track would suit his champion Addeybb.
