Wali’s faction had last week announced the suspension of a former governor of Kano State, Rabiu Musa Kwankwaso from the party, a decision the national body declared invalid.
Since the clash at the North-West zonal congress of the party, there has been renewed rivalry between the two factions of the PDP in the state as they struggle to grab the zonal vice chairmanship position which has been zoned to the state.
Gwarzo’s suspension was announced via a letter, dated April 20 and jointly signed by Gwarzo ward chairman and secretary, Idris Danbaba and Sunusi Ibrahim, respectively.
In the letter sighted by our correspondent, the party said Gwarzo’s suspension was based on alleged anti-party activities and that it took immediate effect.

The Peoples Democratic Party, PDP, Gwarzo ward, in Kano State, has on Wednesday suspended former lawmaker, who represented Kano North at the National Assembly, Senator Bello Hayatu Gwarzo.
The suspension could not be unconnected to the alleged romancing with the factional group led by Ambassador Aminu Wali.
Recall the faction some days ago suspended the former Governor Rabiu Musa Kwankwaso following alleged role played in the crisis that marred the conduct of the party’s Northwest zonal Congress held last week in Kaduna.
The Chairman, PDP Gwarzo ward, Idris Abdullahi Danbaba, and his Secretary, Sanusi Ibrahim An-one, in a jointly signed letter obtained by newsmen in the state said Senator Bello Hayatu Gwarzo was suspended for alleged anti-party activities.
Daily Trust reports that following the disruption of the North-West Zonal congress of the PDP, the leadership of the party appointed a caretaker committee to see to the affairs of the party in the zone for 40 days.
Members of the caretaker committee are: Dr. Aminu Abdullahi (Chairman) and Alhaji Baba Kasim Ibrahim (Secretary).
Others are Alhaji Sani Baba, Hon. Ali Madaki, Hon. Ibrahim Lawal Dankaba, Hon. Hi Umaru Maye and Alhaji Akibu Dalhatu.
Factional group reacts
Meanwhile, the PDP faction loyal to Kwankwaso has disowned the purported query and suspension, saying the action lacks legality.
A statement by Hon. Jamilu Abubakar Danbatta, Secretary, PDP Kano State Chapter under the leadership of Alh. Shehu Wada Sagagi, said the crisis witnessed at the zonal congress was orchestrated by some “elements of distraction within the party, who play to the gallery of APC and Kano state Governor Abdullahi Umar Ganduje.”

Thugs on Saturday disrupted the North-West congress of the Peoples Democratic Party held at the Kaduna International Trade fair complex.
The PDP North West comprises seven states: Kano, Katsina, Kaduna, Jigawa, Sokoto, Kebbi and Zamfara.
There are two top contenders, Senator Bello Hayatu Gwarzo from Kano State and Muhammad Jamo Yusuf, from Kano State.
However, it was gathered that Gwarzo is being supported by the former Minister of Foreign Affairs, Aminu Wali, who is leading a faction of the party in Kano State. Muhammad Jamo Yusuf, also from Kano, is being supported by a former governor of Kano State, Rabiu Musa Kwankwaso, who is also leading a party s faction in Kano.
