Biden will be the first Syracuse University alumnus to be president of the United States when he takes office on Wednesday. During an emotional final speech in Delaware before his inauguration, he gave a shout-out to his alma mater.

President-elect Joe Biden marked the 48th anniversary of the death of his first wife and baby daughter on Friday, attending Mass at the church where they are buried.
Central New York native Neilia Biden and the couple’s 13-month old daughter, Naomi, were killed when their car was struck by a tractor-trailer in Delaware as she took the kids to pick out a Christmas tree in 1972. Sons Hunter and Beau, then 3 and 4, were seriously injured in the crash.
