Superintendent survey
The Deming Public Schools Board of Education is working with Dr. Linda Paul, search consultant, to find the next superintendent for the district. The board is greatly interested in the public s input about the district and the characteristics the public would like to see in the next leader for DPS.

Chicago Public Schools is taking its biggest step toward a return to normalcy Monday, a full 349 days after the pandemic closed schools and upended education as families and educators knew it. But school, for the foreseeable future, will still look nearly unrecognizable.
The vast majority of the 421 elementary and middle schools welcoming students back over the next week more than 92% will be less than half full, and 42% will be less than a quarter full.
Teachers across the city are expecting single-digit students per class, including some with no children returning at all. Schools have split their returning students into Monday-Tuesday and Thursday-Friday cohorts, with Wednesdays reserved for school cleaning and remote learning for all.

School Committee members each offered up their choice of a name for the new elementary school along with a supporting reason. And here they are.
Name: The Joseph Story Elementary School
Chosen by: Sarah Gold, chairman
Why: “I think the school needs to create its own story and that is why my recommendation is going to be for the Joseph Story School,” Gold said.
Gold described Story as someone who aspired to be above politics, is well known for his opinion in the Amistad case (https://www.history.com/topics/abolitionist-movement/amistad-case), remains the youngest person to have ever served on the Supreme Court and served at very important time in history (https://supremecourthistory.org/?page id=406).
