Apr 6, 2021 MOHW Reels and Comes Again on Vehicle Procurement The Ministry of Health and Wellness came under fire recently when it was revealed that a contract for the procurement of six vehicles had been given to a businessman who is reportedly a member of Minister Michel Chebat’s campaign team in Cayo North.  When it became known that Belize Auto Zone had been selected to provide the crew cab pickup trucks without going through an open tendering procedure, government was heavily criticized for sidestepping a process which ensures transparency.  We note that in a recent issue of the Amandala Newspaper, the Ministry of Finance has placed a tender notice for competitive bidding to supply the vehicles.  Interested bidders must submit a quotation, along with recent letters of good standing from the Belize Companies Registry, Belize Tax Service and Belize Social Security Board.
