The British Ambassador to Ukraine Melinda Simmons posted on her Twitter on Aug. 28 a drawing of a Ukrainian child in Lviv, which was made during an art therapy class.
After four tumultuous and challenging years, Dame Melinda Simmons’ term as the British ambassador to Ukraine is coming to an end. Since Simmons, a career diplomat, arrived in Kyiv in September 2019, she has worked through the coronavirus outbreak, a change of three UK prime ministers, the death of Queen Elisabeth II, and the coronation of King Charles III. The only time when Simmons wondered, “Can I do this?” was at the start of the Russian full-scale invasion of Ukraine in February 2022.
Russia is illegally involved in replacing and deporting Ukrainian children with the sinister motive of exterminating the next generation of defenders of Ukraine, and the abduction of children is also part of the Russian invasion plan.
