E-bikes are taking off in the mountainbike communities, but some are warning that the battery-powered mountainbikers still need to practice good etiquette when it comes to encounters with their conventional counterparts. It’s not just commuters and mature bike riders who are enjoying the benefits of e-bikes, hardcore pedal pushers who favour mountainous terrain and strenuous rides are also gravitating towards the power of the battery. Nelson Torpedo 7 bike salesperson Steve Earl said while there was a little stigma from the conventional bikers that e-bikers were taking the easy route, it wasn’t correct.
