Ivan Tertel, the chief of Belarus' State Security Service, revealed an attack on Minsk that was supposedly prevented by "sharp Chekist measures" carried out by drones from Lithuania, but refused to provide details.
"We are witnessing intensified activities of the Belarusian KGB, which are, in fact, reaching historic heights; they have never been so intense," Lithuania's intelligence chief Darius Jauniskis said.
In the wake of the disputed 2020 election, thousands took to the streets to protest against Belarusian strongman Alexander Lukashenko. Four people have been jailed for offenses committed during the unrest.
