The export of sawn timber by the forestries affiliated with the
Belarusian Forestry Ministry rose by more than 20% in January 2024
year-on-year, Belarusian Forestry Minister Aleksandr Kulik said at a
meeting with representatives of the forestry industry, BelTA learned
from the press service of the Belarusian Forestry Ministry.
"Belarus is one of the important partners of Karelia. We are working to promote our close cooperation. Our trade is increasing. In particular, imports from Belarus are on the rise. A number of joint important projects are in progress," Artur Parfenchikov emphasized.
The minister added: “We will be the first country in the post-Soviet space to fully introduce an automated system for the video surveillance of forests. It covers 80% now. The system has proven its effectiveness with flying colors.”
Aleksandr Kulik said: “The idea to create trade platforms under the Lesnoi Domik brand has been backed. The president examined the slides in detail and backed the idea. And he gave instructions to promote it so that we would go out and meet our customers.”
