The Municipal Water Affairs Bureau in Beijing, China has started a two-month spring ecological water replenishment program to promote groundwater conservation and the recovery of the ecological environment in the Chaobai River basin. The program involves multi-path ecological water replenishment combining main and tributary streams from surface water sources including Miyun Reservoir, Baihebao Reservoir, Yaoqiaoyu Reservoir and Beitaishang Reservoir. The total replenishment capacity of Miyun Reservoir is 40 million cubic metres, and its downstream will add 36 km of river sections with water. The water affairs department will closely track the water replenishment process and optimise dispatching measures to ensure the flow of Chaobai River lasts at least 50 days.
