46 Taiwanese nationals sentenced in China for telecom fraud 04/16/2021 10:54 PM Photo from the Weibo page of the Beijing Municipal High People s Court Taipei, April 16 (CNA) A court in Beijing on Friday sentenced a total of 46 Taiwanese nationals, who were deported from Spain in 2016, to up to 13 years in jail for their alleged involvement in telecom fraud. The accused were charged with defrauding Chinese people from Spain in two separate cases, according to a bulletin posted by the Beijing Municipal High People s Court on its Weibo account. In one of the two cases, seven main culprits, including one surnamed Lu, were sentenced to 10-13 years in prison for victimizing residents in Mainland China from October-December 2016, the court said.

Provided by Dow Jones By Yang Jie Amazon.com Inc. can t use its cloud-computing business s AWS logo in China, a Beijing court ruled, the latest headache for a company that has already been hampered by Chinese regulations and rivals. The Beijing Municipal High People s Court ruled that the trademark for the term AWS belonged to ActionSoft Science & Technology Development Co., a Chinese software and data services company, according to a court verdict published Dec. 30. The court ordered Amazon to stop using the term AWS or any similar logos in China and pay compensation of 76.5 million yuan, equivalent to $11.8 million, to ActionSoft. The verdict was dated May 2020 but was released at the end of last month. Chinese courts often publish rulings months after they are made.
