The University of Hawaiʻi at Mānoa and Leeward Community College have received federal funds to train students to become certified counselors for substance use disorders.
The University of Hawaiʻi says it received a $2.2 million grant to train 88 students to become substance abuse counselors. The U.S. Health Resources and Services Administration grant will provide students with scholarships to attend a program at Leeward Community College.
