The manager of a mid Cork early childcare and Montessori school has spoken of her fear that childcare providers may be driven out of the sector by mounting costs, an ever-growing burden of bureaucracy and a difficulty to fill vacancies as staff members are enticed to work elsewhere by better wages and terms. Christina Buckley of Beehive Childcare and Montessori School in Berrings spoke to The Corkman in advance of a strike planned by childcare providers from around the country at the end of September, as they seek talks with Childrens’ Minister Roderick O’Gorman to discuss changes in the core funding model.
