ANDY Reid paid a poignant personal tribute to Captain Sir Tom Moore as the funeral of the much-loved veteran was held. War veteran Andy, who lives in Rainford, served in the Yorkshire Regiment, the same military unit in the British Army that Sir Tom was made an Honorary Colonel of last August. Sir Tom’s coffin, draped in a union flag, was carried to the crematorium on Saturday by soldiers from the Yorkshire Regiment while a Second World War-era C-47 Dakota performed a flypast. As a tribute, Andy, who was awarded the MBE in 2019 for his charity efforts and the inspiring way he overcame horrific injuries sustained in an improvised explosive device blast in Afghanistan in 2009, placed flowers at the war memorial in Victoria Square, St Helens.
