Newcomers to Denville, N.J., which sits midway between Times Square and the Delaware Water Gap, are apt to acquire something associated with the latter.
“We bought a canoe,” said Jessica Lemmon, a resident since 2018. “At first, my husband wanted a motorized boat, but we decided that a canoe” plus kayaks for the couple’s two daughters “would be a good start.”

After having two children in five years, Pooja Raj and her husband, Joe Russo, were ready to move out of their apartment in Park Slope, Brooklyn, and leave the city where they had lived for 15 years. Well, sort of ready.
“My husband has been over living in New York,” Ms. Raj said. “Brooklyn felt like home for me. I was adamant in having a house in a town that felt not that different.”

As of Thursday afternoon, the Environment Agency has issued 182 flood alerts for some areas, meaning people should prepare for possible flooding.
The Environment Agency has also issued 40 flood warnings across England.
Flood warnings mean flooding is expected, and immediate action is required.
