BILLINGS- â Construction on Billings Main Street began in mid-April and has been impeding traffic since.
âThe work consists mostly of ADA accessibility improvements, signal light improvements, new striping, and repaving of that whole stretch of road,â says Becky Bey, the public information officer for Billings Main Street project.
Because of lane closures and difficult navigation, the construction has also taken a toll on local businesses.
âWell, since the construction started it has slowed down quite a bit. People are having a tough time navigating the left hand turn off of main to come into here and some of the regulars have complained and weâre not getting the business that we usually get,â says Steven Benson, assistant manager at Montana Jacks.
New $41.5M bridge brings new hopes
TOSTON, Montana (Independent Record) It’s Thursday afternoon at The Bunkhouse Bar & Grill near Toston and a few folks are trickling in for lunch, where the daily special this particular day is a jalapeno burger and fries for about $11.

The state has replaced the nearly 70-year-old two-lane bridge at Toston with a new $41.5 million four-lane structure over the Missouri River that officials and others say is not only safer and meets traffic needs, but will offer more amenities.
