DePauw’s Honor Scholar Program is recognizing a Clayton, Indiana English teacher who her nominator said, “embodies the fervor and excitement that high school education should ignite for students.”
Faced with a pandemic, the first-year theatre majorâs experience was nothing like she expected.
âAt first, it was really scary and I kept getting panic attacks because I felt like everyone else around me knew a lot of things and had everything together, but then I realized that we are all just trying our best,â Cervantes said. âThen, the rest of the semester was fun and a great learning experience. It was not as nice as I expected, but it was still really nice.â
Emporia State concluded its fall semester on Dec. 11, adapting to to the COVID-19 pandemic with shifts to different classroom environments and spikes in classes around campus.
