N.W.T. health officials said COVID-19 testing will be limited in Yellowknife during the holidays and it may take up to three days to be contacted by public health if you're a close contact of someone who has COVID-19.
Citing concerns about COVID-19 community spread in Nunavut, the N.W.T. is cancelling the travel bubble between it and its neighbouring territory. The overall case count in N.W.T. rose by 2 to 26 Thursday and officials issued public health notices for two Canadian North flights.
With more cases of the Omicron variant suspected in the N.W.T., Chief Public Health Officer Dr. Kami Kandola says people need to test themselves for COVID-19 when they arrive in the N.W.T. and urges them to lay low for 72 after they arrive in the territory.
People identified as a contact of someone who has COVID-19 by a public health official in the N.W.T. have to isolate for 10 days regardless of their vaccination status. The N.W.T. also issued nine new public exposure notices Wednesday.
