Bluffton Today
The Beaufort Art Association Gallery is featuring the work of Bluffton artist Neil Jansen in August and September.
Jansen’s work is being showcased at the gallery for the first time since 2013, the art association said. The exhibit will display Jansen’s “Naïve” art style, including “his famous New England style barns . primitive botanicals, still life paintings and flowers.”
“A naïve artist cannot never be copied,” the art association said. “They are genuine personalities distinguished by original and unmistakable stylistic independence. This is absolutely true of Jansen’s art.”
A native New Yorker, Jansen attended Pratt Institute and has a graphics design and marketing degree from Ringling College of Art and Design in Sarasota, Florida. He served in the Army and taught art at Fort Dix and in Korea, where he created visual aids for teaching equipment repair in the field.
