bill: jury selection begins today in a murder case that s 22 years old. the case of a georgia beauty queen happened back in 2005. prosecutors saying her alleged killer tried to burglarize her before strange, inc. her in her bed. his friend helped burn her remains. ryan duke maintains his innocence but on trial now. phillip holloway, attorney, legal analyst in atlanta. good morning to you. they ll try to make the case that beau dukes is the real killer. that s right. the duke versus duke showdown. the real question is does the prosecution have the right person on trial? look, their entire narrative was fed to them in the beginning by beau dukes. he is a violent sexual
predator, felonious, convicted liar currently serving 25 years in the prison in the state of georgia for lying to the georgia bureau of investigation about his role in this very case. and so despite what the prosecution says that might be a few smoking guns that point to ryan duke, those smoking guns aren t as hot as the prosecution wants you to think they are. the defense has quite a bit to work with especially when the credibility or lack there of of beau dukes is going to be the centerpiece of this trial. bill: i said 22 years, should have said 17 years. the timeline going back to 2005 she is last seen around 11:00. december five years later the judge declares her dead. in february seven years later ryan duke arrested for murder. in march of that same year, beau dukes was charged with helping conceal her body.
