La Selección Ecuatoriana empató por 1 - 1 con su similar de Brasil en el último encuentro del grupo B y clasificó a los cuartos de final de la Copa América 2021. La Tricolor necesitaba una derrota de parte de Venezuela ante Perú, resultado que se cumplió por 1-0 en horario simultáneo.
La Tricolor se enfrentó al mejor equipo del continente y al favorito para levantar la copa por segunda ocasión consecutiva. En sus tres primeros partidos, Brasil había conseguido el triunfo. Ecuador logró que la canarinha no clasificar con resultado perfecto.
