Bega Valley: Dune enhancement project in full swing February 23, 2021, by Eldin Ganic
Bega Valley Shire Council has just announced that a project aimed at re-establishing and enhancing the coastal dune systems is well underway across the Shire.
Stage 1 – including works at Pambula Beach, Tathra Beach, Beares Beach, Camel Rock Beach and Cuttagee Beach – is now complete.
Commenting the latest news, Bega Valley Shire Council’s Coastal Management Officer,
Rachel Duczynski, said that their coastline is renowned for having some of the most natural and intact coastal ecosystems in New South Wales.
“Dune systems are essential for coastline protection and play an important role in helping our beaches cope with the impacts of storm surges and sea level rise, as well as providing habitat for a range of fauna,” Ms Duczynski said.
