Local ice fishing outfitters are taking a cautious approach to opening this year as concerns about travel north from southern Ontario continue amid the province-wide lockdown.

“We don’t by any means want to bring people up from down south and possibly bring COVID to the area,” says Nick Day, owner of Rob’s Fishing Charters.
As of Boxing Day, the Ontario government placed the entire province in the grey, or lockdown, zone of public health measures, the strictest restrictions possible for any given region.
