A man was taken to an area hospital for observation after calling the police and telling them he was sitting in a vehicle doused with gasoline and explosives.
The incident took place around 1 a.m., Sunday, April 11, on Main Street in the City of Beacon, said Detective Sergeant Jason Johnson of the City of Beacon Police Department.
According to Johnson, the 64-year man called Dutchess County 911 and stated that he was sitting in his vehicle doused in gasoline with explosives and a loaded firearm.
He also threatened to use them if anyone approached, Johnson said.
Officers located the man in his vehicle and cordoned off the area. Extra shift personnel was called in and assistance was sought from the state police as well as the Dutchess County Sheriff’s Office who activated their Crisis Negotiation Unit.
