Beachside Produce, based in Guadalupe, CA, and Total Quality Logistics Transportation, based in Cincinnati, are partnering to donate and deliver 40,000 pounds of fresh vegetables to the Central Texas Food Bank in Austin, TX.
Both companies felt compelled to assist the hundreds of thousands of Texans devastated by a series of historically frigid winter storms that slammed through the state last week, according to an industry spokesperson. The fresh produce will be harvested and shipped from the Central California coastal community of Guadalupe to the Central Texas Food Bank by Friday, Feb. 26.
“We have been glued to the T.V. weather and news reports all week as the storms crippled most of the state, and wanted to help the communities of Texas in the best way we could,” said Steve Adlesh of Beachside Produce.

Nearly 40,000 pounds of locally grown produce will be donated to help families in Texas following the historic winter storms.
Beachside Farms, based in Guadalupe, is sending nearly 1,200 boxes of broccoli, cauliflower, Brussels sprouts, and romaine hearts to the Central Texas Food Bank in Austin, Texas.
The partners in the company, Steve Adlesh and John Maulhardt, said they wanted to help after watching the devastation unfold in southern states hit hardest by the winter storms.
âThere s a lot of food insecurity in that state right now. If you tack the pandemic on, people are nervous about where they are going to get their next meal,â Adlesh said. âWe have an abundance of crops here right now so it s really just a small token to say, Hey guys, we hope you get back on your feet.
