there was some talk after that double attack just a week or so ago that might actually happen. reporter: we haven t seen any of that. you know, the incidents happened they seem to be isolated that happened along the coast in different locations over the span of several weeks. there isn t an area in particular that authorities are focusing on. there is no talk of beach closures. you can see it behind me. people are out here and they plan to be out here all weekend. well, and it is going to be a busy, busy weekend for it which is why i m always astounded again the waist deep water is so chilling. thank you for that on wrightsville beach in north carolina. again, the july 4th long weekend coming up, those beaches are going to be packed. we ll continue to follow that story and my colleague wolf blitzer will take you on the odyssey of everything else cnn is covering. it starts right now.
it statistically would be really low. so it s the jaws effect, isn t it? and this is my home state, you re an aussie. and you get a few shark attacks and everyone goes, sharks everywhere, do something. when, in fact, it is pretty rare. and you see this as a knee-jerk thing. it s funny you mentioned jaws, because it s just like the scene when they go out to get the monster. and it s an equally dated approach. there are much better ways with ariel patrols and spotting towerses and judicious beach closures that will help protect people a lot more than going out and indiscriminately killing sharks over a certain size. yeah. and how do you do that? how do you actually are you able to curb cull the population there, and protect people? because i bet if you re the if you re the victim of a shark attack, you know, you re thinking differently. sure, yeah. it s really tragic for the people who have been victims of shark attacks. but you have to put it in context that this is eight
