BC Housing is poised to reveal more details this week surrounding a major supportive housing initiative that will benefit Kelowna's unhoused population.
The organization’s goal is to move people from shelters to longer-term housing, which is why we have opened 236 supportive homes in Kelowna since 2017.
If met, the five-year goals mean the selected communities would build 38 per cent more stock than what they would have otherwise, based on historic trends.
The province is expected to unveil new legislation this fall superseding municipal zoning to allow more densification as a part of its plan to address a critical housing shortage.
