Remembering Burke Waldron, World War II vet and parade marcher who threw Mariners first pitch Josh Farley, Kitsap Sun Burke Waldron, a veteran sailor of World War II who never tired of donning his dress whites for the annual Bremerton Armed Forces Day parade and who found fame late in life after throwing the first pitch at a Mariners game, died on Dec. 31. He was 96.  Waldron, who d remained active into his 90s he enjoyed regular exercise and had even gone skydiving in recent years began to slow down during 2020. After purchasing a bicycle, he endured a fall and broke his clavicle and some ribs. In mid-December, he tested positive for COVID-19.
