And even more hard to believe, it s been 16 years since one of our worst hurricanes ever, which of course was Hurricane Katrina. According to WWL, two proposals are being considered for redeveloping one of the worst-hit sites in the city, the former Six Flags New Orleans. The 146.2-acre abandoned theme park in New Orleans East has been the face of the disaster for years, and is currently owned by the Industrial Development Board of New Orleans.

A public committee has narrowed future plans for the former Six Flags New Orleans site down to two proposals. Many of the more than 300 public comments submitted to the committee hours before a virtual meeting via Zoom pledged support for a project by a group of developers called Bayou Phoenix, which seeks to put a logistics hub, travel center, water park, sports complex and hotel on the site. The group said that the logistics center could attract tenants like Amazon or Walmart.
