Bayonne’s Memorial Day Parade will return

The Bayonne Memorial Day Parade will be back in 2022. In late April, the Bayonne Memorial Day Parade Committee announced that the 2021 parade was cancelled due to COVID-19, as was the case in 2020.
COVID-19 restrictions made it impossible to plan and organize bands, marching groups, public and private organizations, and anyone else who would have participated. However, due to the aging veteran population and the declining membership in the posts that have made up the Memorial Day Parade Committee, the committee announced the event was permanently cancelled.

In 2019, Edith Ferrell was the last Bayonne Memorial Day Parade Grand Marshall to march in the parade.
For the last 100 years the city of Bayonne has hosted its annual Memorial Day Parade. Now, the tradition is coming to end, according to the Bayonne Memorial Day Parade Committee.
The committee, made up of all the Veterans Posts, organized the event, while the city supplied financial assistance. COVID-19 forced the cancellation of the 2020 and 2021 parades. But the state of the veteran population has led to its final cancellation.
