Care worker Maria Dadu was jailed for two years at Ipswich Crown Court

A Suffolk care home worker who stole treasured wedding and engagement rings from vulnerable elderly residents has been jailed for two years.
Maria Dadu, 42, took jewellery of enormous sentimental value from three victims across two care homes in Barham and Baylham, Ipswich Crown Court heard.
Dadu, who was an agency care worker, stole the rings between May 1 and May 23, 2019, Lynne Shirley, prosecuting, told the court.
The three victims have all since died, the court heard.
During a visit to Barham Care Centre on May 16, 2019, the son of the first victim, who was aged in her 70s at the time and had Alzheimer s, discovered his mother s wedding ring was missing, Ms Shirley said.
Baylham Care Centre has been rated inadequate in a Care Quality Commission inspection

A Suffolk care facility for people with complex needs has vowed to improve, saying its recent inadequate rating does not properly reflect the quality of care it provides.
Baylham Care Centre, in Lower Street run by Optima HCI Limited was inspected by the Care Quality Commission (CQC) on February 12 and two out of three areas were classed as inadequate , while the others were rated requires improvement .
The inspection was prompted by concerns the CQC had received about management of risk and people’s safety and the report said: We found significant concerns around how the service was managed particularly with regards to health and safety and risk management.
