Whanganui Vintage Weekend Trust is putting up $1000 as a cash incentive for people to undertake a survey about the annual Vintage Weekend event. Bruce Jellyman, chairman of Whanganui Vintage Weekend Trust says Vintage Weekend has been held every year since 2012 and while it is going from strength to strength, it s important to know it is delivering value to and for the community.
Plumber Dan Soap Box derby wows crowd on return to Whanganui streets

Thousands of keen locals gathered on the banks and streets around Pukenamu Queen s Park for the return of the Soap Box Derby. The street race returned to the centre of Whanganui for the first time since 2018, with Dan Goldsworthy (Plumber Dan) taking over the reins for this year s event.
About 80 entered the derby which was part of Bayleys Whanganui Vintage Weekend.
Starting at the top of Pukenamu, a wide variety of homemade carts and drift trikes raced down the winding road before getting onto Drews Ave and finishing on Rutland St.

Vintage Social back
The Vintage Social is back for another year, bringing together people of all ages to dress up in their favourite style from any era and listen to the best from music from every era as part of Bayleys Whanganui Vintage Weekend. Held at Porridge Watson, the event begins at 8pm through to midnight and costs $20, with tickets available on Eventfinder. You re guaranteed to hear some of your favourite tunes but if you have a request make sure you leave it on the Porridge Watson Facebook page as our DJ will be too busy crate digging on the night to chat, event organiser Kit Lawrence said.
