Angry residents along Okaka Road in Yenagoa, Bayelsa State, yesterday gave an allegedly deranged woman the beating of her life after she stabbed a 14 years-old-boy, Joseph Thomas, to death for reasons yet to be ascertained.
The incident, which occurred at about 7:30 am, on Tuesday morning, took the quick intervention of a patrol team of the Bayelsa State Police Command to rescue the woman from the angry residents.
An eyewitness account has it that the accused woman also stabbed another boy on the arm in an attempt to kill him few meters away from where she was.
One of the residents identified as Panebi explained that the woman, who is identified as an indigene of Enugu State, is known to preach the gospel of Christ in the early hours of the morning along the Okaka road.
The incident threw the neighbours into shock which later degenerated into mob action against the suspected woman and nearly beat her to death.
It was gathered that the quick arrival of the Patrol team of the Bayelsa State Police Command rescued the woman from the angry mob who wanted to retaliate the boy’s death.
Some residents of the community told Daily Trust that the accused woman is believed to be deranged and had attempted to stab another boy few meters away from where she killed the 14-year boy.
Daily Trust leant that the woman had stabbed another boy in the arm along mountain of fire road, Okaka before proceeding to kill her victim.

There was pandemonium, yesterday, at the Niger Delta University, Wilberforce Island, Ammassoma, Southern Ijaw Local Government Area of Bayelsa State after a 200 level student, James Okunmakpeye, was shot by suspected cultists.
The student, who was studying marketing, was shot in the head at close range at about 11 am while standing by the door of his lecture class.
Students and lecturer, according to sources, scampered for safety, while the body of the deceased was left in a pool of blood.
The Public Relations Officer of the institution, Ingezi Idoni, confirmed the incident, adding that the institution was investigating it and had contacted the police.

The Bayelsa State Police Command said on Thursday that it recovered the mutilated body of an unidentified female around the School-to-Land Project in the Edepie area of Yenagoa, the state capital.
A statement by the Police Public Relations Officer, Asinim Butswat, said the command believed the victim was killed for ritual purposes, as vital organs of her body were removed by her assailants.
The statement read in part, “The unidentified female corpse was found on March 4, 2021 around 08.30am.
“Preliminary investigation reveals that vital organs such as eyes, ears, nose and tongue were removed allegedly for ritual purposes.
