SOUTHPORT The suspect in Saturday s stabbing death of a 64-year-old woman had bonded out of jail less than a week earlier on drug and assault charges and was on a methamphetamine binge at the time of the stabbing death, according to authorities and court records.
William Jacob Burks, 36, remained hospitalized Sunday for treatment of what Bay County Sheriff s Office deputies believe is a self-inflicted stab wound to the chest that they said occurred after he stabbed Cynthia Ann Black in the throat in her 9125 Kingswood Drive home, leading to her death. He is facing an open count of murder and a charge of grand theft auto.
