Minutes. Cheerleading is now considered a sport in california. Its a step forward, but possibly a leap back for one east bay School District. Teammates and their parents are rallying to save their program at the Liberty Union high School District. That covers brentwood and oakley in contra costa county. The girls are athletes so for that to be possibly taken away from us, we were devastated. That happened friday after someone called 911 to report a man acting erratically near a gas station.
