58th Bay Annual competition and exhibition winners named

Of those works, 12 received awards from this year’s judge, Amanda Thompson, the assistant director for the Council on Culture & Arts (COCA), based in Tallahassee. Thompson holds a K-12 Florida Art Teacher Certification and is a practicing artist herself, working in glass, ceramics and a variety of other media. “I’m honored to serve as judge for this year’s show, and I’m inspired by what these artists have created,” Thompson said. “Each artist is sharing something truly unique, and that’s one of the reasons this show is so moving. Their art has made an impression on me and, for that, I’m grateful.”

PANAMA CITY  The Bay Annual Competition and Exhibition returned for its 58th year with an awards ceremony and reception on May 7. The exhibit will be open to the public in the main gallery of the Center for the Arts, 19 E. Fourth St. in Panama City, through May 29. “We’re so excited to be hosting the Bay Annual again,” said Jayson Kretzer, director of Bay Arts Alliance, which runs the Center for the Arts. “This show is always the perfect opportunity for our local creatives to come reconnect with each other. We hope the community will come out to see and support the work of some of our area’s most talented artists.”
