Alhaji Mohammed Idris, the state Commissioner of Information and Strategy, confirmed the development to newsmen on Sunday in Minna. x
Idris who did not give more details on the issue, simply said that ‘it was true’.
Also, the member representing Bida 11, at the State Assembly, Alhaji Haruna Baba, also confirmed the development.
He explained that two weeks ago, the member representing Gurara, Binta Mamman, tested positive, which made the entire legislators and staff of the assembly to undergo testing for coronavirus.

Niger State House of Assembly Speaker Abdullahi Bawa Wuse and some other members in the assembly have tested positive of COVID-19.
It was also learnt that a former Head of Service in Niger State has died of complications from COVID-19.
But, anxiety has gripped the Assembly workers as they are scared whether they had contracted the virus or not since it was about a week ago that ministries presented budget screening in the Assembly.
A source at the Assembly, who said a lot of COVID-19 tests on the members turned out positive, refused to mention other positive people’s names. The source, however, said the Speaker was among those, who tested positive.

States plan tough enforcement as new COVID-19 cases surge

Officials of states including Lagos, Anambra, Ogun and Kaduna on Sunday told
The PUNCH that as from Monday (today), they would step up enforcement of COVID-19 preventive measures such as wearing of face masks, social distancing in vehicles and hand washing.
Recall that following the persistent increase in COVID-19 cases in the country in April, the Federal Government introduced phase one lockdown in Lagos and Ogun states as well as the Federal Capital Territory from April 27 to May 4.
The country also went through phase two from May 5 to June 29 and phase three from June 30 to July 27.
Other members go into isolation to know COVID-19 status.
