Most of the crew aboard the USS Oklahoma were asleep below deck when the first Japanese torpedoes hit. Within 15 minutes, the ship rolled over, trapping hundreds of men inside. Allen was among the 429 men from the USS Oklahoma killed in the attack on Pearl Harbor on Dec. 7, 1941.
