the threats and the u.s. response with national security adviser jake sullivan. hello. i m dana bash in washington where the state of our union is wondering what the country will look like in 23 days. as we count down to the midterm elections, the president of the united states faces twin challenges. gloomy new data points show that inflation is unchecked despite attempts by the fed to bring it down. the cost at the kitchen table is up, fueled with clashes with unpredictable global powers. the economic and foreign policy chaos, part of what s driving dramatic uncertainty ahead of next month s elections. today a special focus on the midterms. we ll have interviews with the candidates in two critical battleground races, one with tremendous consequences for the
make some decision shortly. governor youngkin was first one to win the state elections in 2009, his position in masks and schools was a big part of that. now he wants to follow through on his pledge to ensure that children only use the bathroom according to their biological sex, to some trend student who money is the bathroom and locker room of their choice. many republicans think and conservative candidates for school board have momentum this fall, democrats of battleground races of northern virginia think children are being used as pa pawns. what worries me most is that, these people that are politicizing them, are using our children for their own gain. here is one irate parent and an irate county. i am not sharing my parenting with a government organization. and this is the hill that i will die on. just another example of how passionate some parents are when it comes to their children s
there are lots of americans who get help from the federal government for lots of different reasons. you can t unravel an entire nation saying why you should get something, why should your disaster relief come through when i didn t get any money because i didn t is have a disaster in my region of the country. it doesn t make sense the white house said they re not going to be pushed around on this and call out the hypocrisy of republicans who are just complaining. it wasn t just republicans who were critical of this move. tim ryan, a democrat running for senate in ohio, like several other democrats running in battleground races said, quote, it sends the wrong message to millions of ohioans without a degree working just as hard to make ends meet. how do you weigh that pushback coming from within biden s own party? well, there has to be a bit of a fact-check here. first of all, something like a third of the people who go into student debt never get a degree.
