UN proposes mutually beneficial deal for Black Sea grain exports

The U.N. has proposed that Kyiv, Moscow and Ankara start preparatory work for the transit of Russian ammonia through Ukraine as it tries to salvage a deal allowing safe Black Sea grain exports, a source close to the talks said on Wednesday. As the preparatory work starts, the U.N. wants parallel talks to be held on widening the Black Sea deal that was agreed last July to include more Ukrainian ports and other cargoes, said the source, who spoke to Reuters on condition of anonymity.

France police destroy 35,000 champagne bottles over naming violations

Nearly 35,000 bottles of a carbonated soda drink that called itself champagne have been destroyed by the French border police, as per BBC. Following a customs inspection in October 2021, the "bright orange liquid" bottles were confiscated after the word "Couronne Fruit Champagne" was seen on their label.

Imran, his loyalists orchestrated May 9 violence: Intel report

A Pakistan intelligence agency has apprised the prime minister Shehbaz Sharif-led government that Imran Khan colluded in orchestrating the violence that ensued on 9-10th of May that took place following the arrest of the former prime minister, as per local media outlet The News International. The report suggested that Imran conspired to the attacks well before the day of the protests by acting hand in glove with his loyalists only. It added that the former prime minister did not reveal his plans to all the Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf (PTI) leaders. 

Brit shot, wife dies of starvation as UK embassy in Sudan fails to evacuate couple living just across road

In a disheartening state of affairs, Alaweya Rishwan, the disabled wife of an 85-year-old Brit died of starvation when the UK embassy in Sudan failed to rescue the family even though they lived just across the road and had contacted the mission multiple times calling for help, as per reports.  The London hotel owner Abdalla Sholgami and his wife apparently requested the UK embassy in Sudan to fly them to the airfield from where the evacuation flights were departing.
